Senator MACKLIN(11.11) —I thank the Minister. I cannot comment on the reply as I do not know what the reply was, but I understand the problem that the Minister for Education (Senator Ryan) is facing. I just hope that the reply includes an explanation-if it does not, may I have a subsequent comment in writing?-of the material in Press releases about these centres in which Senator Ryan said, for example, that the Bayside centre had considerable potential for providing useful educational advice to the Commonwealth and that this grant would help the centre fulfil that potential; and that the Warwick centre was a very useful resource for teachers. My perplexity is over why the Government first of all sought to terminate their study on the one hand and take away their grants and, on the other hand, to issue a flurry of Press releases patting itself on the back for giving them some money which was less than they were originally getting.
