Senator GRIMES (Minister for Community Services)(5.15) —Senator Robert Ray may or may not be surprised, but I am informed that the ratings of the National have actually increased considerably recently. I am also informed that the cost of the National, compared with that of what it replaced, is in fact only a matter of $1m here and $1m there. As to the VFL and football replay, I suppose it depends on one's views. As an ex-New South Welshman and a player of that vulgar game rugby league, I am always very pleased with the ABC because I can watch the Sydney rugby league on a Saturday afternoon. I feel very badly about country people missing out on the VFL. I will refer that matter to the ABC to see whether it can be corrected.
