Senator GRIMES (Minister for Community Services)(10.12) —I can understand Senator Peter Rae's concern but the letter is from the Auditor-General. The letter is about an audit done by the Auditor-General in which he is declaring his intentions. The cost of that audit-whether or not he reported the fact that he had stopped it-is a matter for the Auditor-General. It is not within the knowledge of the officers from the Department of Communications. I think that question is more appropriately asked-I am not sure whether Senator Rae will get an answer, of course-of the advisers and the Minister present when we deal with the appropriations of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. This is an inappropriate time to ask the questions. The letter is certainly there, it is by the Auditor-General and it is to Australia Post. It is not within Australia Post's knowledge what the Auditor-General did or how much he spent on that audit.
