The Clerk-Petitions have been lodged for presentation as follows:

Nuclear Disarmament

To the Honourable the President and the members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The petition of the undersigned citizens of Australia respectfully showeth and in concern for peace support:

1. A move towards unity, co-operation and peaceful co-existence amongst all peoples of the earth. We pledge our agreement to an immediate bilateral freeze of the development and deployment of all nuclear weapons and to speed negotiations to dismantle all such weapons of mass destruction under the supervision of a neutral peace-keeping force.

2. The establishment of a Ministry for Peace to focus our energies towards non-violent resolution of world conflicts, encouraging our government to pursue its own independent polices in foreign affairs, non-aligned to any one polarity, with the aim of bringing about lasting and peaceful co-existence world wide.

3. The establishment of a Senate Select Committee on Nuclear Disarmament and Peace to examine and debate all submissions by way of petitions and proposals and to assist in the creation of the Ministry for Peace.

And your petitioners, as in duty bound, will ever pray. Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all Humankind.
