Senator BOLKUS —I direct a question to the Minister representing the Minister for Communications. Can the Minister say whether it is still the Government's intention that the Special Broadcasting Service begin broadcasting in South Australia this year? If so, can he give the Senate the date of commencement of broadcasting?

Senator WALSH —I am advised by the Minister that the answer is yes, the extension of multicultural television to Adelaide is on schedule for transmission to commence on or about 30 June this year.

Senator Messner —Thirtieth of June?

Senator WALSH —Yes, 30 June. It is scheduled to commence then and it is on schedule. I suppose it cannot be absolutely guaranteed that the schedule will continue to be met over the next 7 or 8 weeks. However, I understand that there is some possible technical problem in regard to the supplementary translator for the Adelaide Hills area which, as I understand it, was to have been installed soon afterwards.
