Senator MacGIBBON —Mr President, I claim to have been misrepresented.

Senator Grimes —You cannot take it. You get up and dish it out and you cannot take it. You are absolutely pathetic.

The PRESIDENT —Order! The honourable senator claims to have been misrepresented. I call Senator MacGibbon.

Senator MacGIBBON —Mr President, I will ignore the maundering of Senator Grimes.

The PRESIDENT —Please explain the misrepresentation.

Senator MacGIBBON —I just make the point that I have never in this place or in any other circumstance defended the position of South Africa. That was the charge that Senator Grimes made on two occasions. I find the principle on which the Government operates in South Africa quite abhorrent and I have made that very clear on many occasions. Senator Grimes's other personal attacks on me make no imprint whatsoever, but I do object to his lying in that way.

The PRESIDENT —Order! The honourable senator will withdraw that word.

Senator MacGIBBON —I withdraw.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

The PRESIDENT —Before the Senate adjourns, I advise honourable senators that Estimates Committees D, E and F will meet after lunch. Estimates Committee D will meet in committee room 6, Estimates Committee E will meet in the Senate chamber and Estimates Committee F will meet in committee rooms 1 and 2. Prior to the sitting of the Committee, the bells will be rung for three minutes.

Senate adjourned at 1.23 p.m.
