Senator PARER —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Minister for Housing and Construction. In view of the remarks made by Senator Gareth Evans and the Prime Minister in respect of the possible cricket tour of South Africa, how does the Government reconcile these principles with the recent decision by the Minister for Housing and Construction to grant a contract worth in excess of $11m to L.T.A. Doval, a wholly South African owned company, for work on aprons and taxiways at the new Brisbane Airport, particularly when a reputable local company tendered a price which was 0.3 per cent higher than that of the South African owned company?

Senator RYAN —The question which Senator Parer has just put to me is the first time I have heard this assertion regarding a contract with a South African company. I shall refer the question to my colleague the Minister for Housing and Construction and get a reply for the honourable senator.
