Senator HILL —My question is directed to the Minister representing the Attorney-General. Following Senator Chaney's question, I refer to the claims by the Prime Minister that legislation passed by the Queensland Parliament is in breach of international conventions which have been ratified by Australia. Is the Government giving consideration to using the external affairs powers of the Commonwealth Constitution to intervene in the affairs of Queensland, as it did in Tasmania over the Gordon below Franklin Dam?

Senator GARETH EVANS —The answer to that question is no.
