Senator Reid asked the Minister for Community Services, upon notice, on 26 March 1985:

What aids for the deaf are available through the program of aids for disabled people.


Senator Grimes —The answer to the honourable senator's question is as follows:

There are no aids available for people with hearing problems under the Program of Aids for Disabled Persons. However, assistance is available through the National Acoustic Laboratories which fall within the responsibilities of my colleague the Hon. Neal Blewett, Minister for Health. Those eligible for this assistance are persons under the age of 21 years and persons with Pensioner Health Benefits entitlements.
