To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled.

The petition of the undersigned respectfully showeth:

That the export of live animals from Australia for consumption overseas is cruel and unnecessary as the animals suffer considerable stress on the voyage in very cramped conditions and slaughtering conditions overseas are often far less humane than those in Australia.

Your petitioners humbly pray that the Senate, in Parliament assembled, should: Request the Government to introduce a Bill providing for a total ban on the export of live animals from this country for consumption overseas.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
