The PRESIDENT —In response to Senator Robertson's question to me during Question Time yesterday on the costs incurred by the Senate Select Committee Concerning the Conduct of a Judge and the Senate Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge, I have been provided with the following information on costs incurred by the Senate. The Select Committee on the Conduct of a Judge involved a cost of $23,935.81. This figure does not include costs for the judge's legal advisors, which costs were met by the Government. The figure does not include the small amount for costs for other witnesses' legal advisors, which costs were added to the costs of the Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge.

The total cost of the Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge was $361,608.43. This figure does not include the Government's contributions to the judge's legal advisors' costs. I table a breakdown of the expenditure of each Committee.
