Motion (by Senator Peter Baume) proposed:

That so much of the Standing Orders be suspended as would prevent the question being put forthwith.

Senator Chipp-On a point of order. The Democrats would be prepared to support that motion, but in fairness to Senator Georges, who feels so strongly about the matter, I would be prepared, with the concurrence of the Senate, to give him an extension of time. I think that would be only fair in the circumstances.

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —Order! There is a motion before the Chair that Standing Orders be suspended to permit a vote. I cannot have another motion.
