Senator ARCHER(3.43) —I move:

That the Senate take note of the paper.

It is particularly relevant that we should congratulate the Pig Meat Promotion Committee on the fact that its production has broken all previous records and that consumption of pig meat per capita also has broken all records. At a time when other producers of meat are finding it difficult to maintain their place in the market it is very significant that this industry can continue to forge ahead. I think all honourable senators owe the pig meat producers congratulations on the fact that the presentation, preparation and production of the commodity they sell is so good. I believe that other producers of meat should take more notice of what the customer wants and more effort should be made so see that they work in exactly the same way. The pig meat industry is sound, it is in good order, stock is good, and pig meat is marketed in a manner that customers have suggested they require. I congratulate the pig meat producers for that and draw the attention of other meat producers to this matter.

Question resolved in the affirmative.
