Senator PETER RAE —by leave-On behalf of the Opposition I associate the Opposition with what has been said by Senator Button. Certainly Joe Chamberlain was a controversial character. Certainly he held views very strongly . Certainly he played a very significant part in Australian politics. His passing should not go unnoticed by this chamber. I join Senator Button in taking this opportunity to pay tribute to the strength and depth of the feelings and attitudes which were expressed by Joe Chamberlain, irrespective of the degree of agreement or disagreement with those views. I wish to join the Opposition in the expression of regret of this chamber at the passing of a man who made Australia all the more outstanding for his having participated in the political debate which took place here.
