Senator JACK EVANS —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Hawke Government for pursuing a petrol pricing formula which means that Australians do not benefit from our Bass Strait reserves;

(b) demands that the Federal Government change its current import parity pricing formula which is a recipe for higher petrol prices and higher inflation in Australia at a time when petrol prices are falling world wide; and

(c) urges the Treasurer, Mr Keating, to put into effect policies which take into account the cogent criticisms of the import parity pricing formula that he enunciated whilst Opposition spokesperson for resources and energy so that new petrol pricing arrangements can be devised to reduce rather than increase the price of petrol to Australian motorists.
