The PRESIDENT —On Friday last, after Senator Tate tabled two documents relating to the power of the Senate or its committees to meet after a dissolution of the House of Representatives or a prorogation of the Parliament, Senator Georges asked the Deputy President, who was then in the chair, to make arrangements for the tabling of any other opinions held by the Senate on this matter. In response to Senator Georges I am now able to table copies of opinions by former Attorney- General Ellicott, Professor Howard of Melbourne University and Professor Sawer, formerly of the Australian National University.
