To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of us, the undersigned citizens of Australia, respectfully shows that we do most vigorously protest and deplore the introduction and availability of 'X' rated pornography, including 'X' rated video cassettes in Australia. We also most strongly oppose all forms of 'R' rated pornography.

In addition, we dispute the statement attributed to the Federal Attorney- General, Senator Gareth Evans, that the great majority of adult Australians do not object to hard core, erotic pornography, and we reject his claim that it is the direct responsibility of parents to control their children's access to it.

We, the electors, respectfully beseech you, our elected representatives, to protect our society, especially children, and beg that adequate laws be enacted and enforced to make illegal importation, production, possession or distribution of both hard-core and soft-core pornography in any form.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
