Senator GRIMES (Minister for Social Security)(9.48) —I do not know what the questions were, but these Bills of course are not related to the hen levy. They are solely for the purpose of abolishing the Egg Board. The Government has announced a decision to phase out the hen levy by 1 July 1987. This is consistent with industry plans to reduce to minimum levels of surplus production of eggs. A small component of the hen levy was used for industry contribution to research. Discussions are taking place with the industry on alternative research funding arrangements.
