Senator SCOTT (Leader of the National Party of Australia)(8.08) -I can only say that I have not received indications from the industry that the quite extensive amendments proposed by Senator Macklin are of very serious concern to it. I think the important thing is the element of review by 1987 and I believe that this Bill expands considerably the borrowing powers of the Australian Canned Fruits Corporation. It enables the Corporation to undertake in its own right hedging operations and it achieves certain things that are believed to be of some real significance. Consequently, in the circumstance of an existing review, I do not believe that the amendments should be supported.

Question put:

That the amendments (Senator Macklin's) be agreed to.
