Senator JACK EVANS — I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Federal Government for being prepared to submit to the demands of banks to lift the interest rate ceiling on small overdrafts and home loans; and

(b) urges the Federal Government not to rush into further deregulation unless it can be certain that small business and home buyers who currently have bank loans can be protected against the inevitable increase in interest rates that would flow to them as a result of such deregulation.
