Senator TOWNLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate, aware that if the referendum concerning the interchange of powers between the States and the Commonwealth is passed, it will be possible for the Commonwealth to arrange for the States to imposes taxes that at the moment they cannot impose, such as a retail turnover tax, therefore urges the Federal Government to allocate a certain amount of money to both the Yes and No cases so that people can be made aware of just how dangerous it is to pass a referendum, even if it has a deceptively simple name.
