Senator FOREMAN —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate congratulate the Hawke Labor Government for its continuing commitment to honouring its 1983 election promises, including promises to:

(a) convene a National Economic Summit;

(b) reduce inflation;

(c) reduce unemployment;

(d) reduce the deficit;

(e) restore growth to the economy;

(f) set up the Prices Surveillance Authority;

(g) update the Family Law Act;

(h) give the Commonwealth Bank a wider charter;

(i) retain accelerated depreciation allowance;

(j) set up the Economic Planning Advisory Council;

(k) introduce legislation relating to the insurance industry;

(l) establish a local pools jobs scheme;

(m) review the petroleum products pricing policy;

(n) strengthen the Industries Assistance Commission;

(o) restructure the steel industry;

(p) reduce industrial disputes;

(q) restore centralised wage fixing;

(r) set up community works programs;

(s) establish roads employment programs;

(t) increase funding to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation;

(u) finance an independent foundation to assist public broadcasting;

(v) enact federal anti-discrimination legislation;

(w) introduce public service reforms;

(x) construct an Australian Museum; and

(y) review the 5-year Defence Plan.
