Senator LEWIS —by leave-I move:

That the Senate take note of the papers presented earlier this day by the Minister for Social Security (Senator Grimes), with the exception of those papers in relation to which motions to take note have already been moved.

In the 30 seconds that remain to deal with 29 papers, let me reiterate our complaints. We were allowed 30 minutes today to debate 32 papers. The Government should be satisfied with that as a gag. Normally on Thursday we would have General Business which would give us some opportunity to debate the other 29 papers but as a result of the Government trying to push the Senate to a conclusion before the election we are in the situation of being deprived of that right to debate the papers. All senators on this side of the chamber make great complaint about that.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

The DEPUTY PRESIDENT —Order! The time allocated under sessional orders for consideration of Government Papers has now expired.
