Senator BUTTON (Minister for Industry and Commerce)(4.28) —I thank honourable senators for the generally supportive comments they have made about the Industries Assistance Commission Amendment Bill 1984. Senator Peter Rae keeps reading to us selected passages from the industry policy of the Liberal Party of Australia. I must say that it does not make my hair stand on end. I do not want to make any further comment than that.

Senator Peter Rae —I will read it more slowly next time.

Senator BUTTON —I think there is a lot of good sense in it. However, I do not mean that to be taken as general endorsement. Honourable senators generally support the Bill apart from the amendment which Senator Peter Rae intends to move. I think the comments that have been made have been generally constructive and helpful. I commend the Bill to the Senate.

Question resolved in the affirmative.

Bill read a second time.
