Senator DURACK —My question is also directed to the Leader of the Government in the Senate. I acknowledge the answer he has just given to Senator Chaney. I thank him for the very clear acknowledgement and support that he has expressed for the Senate Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge and its members in the difficult task they have. I refer the Leader of the Government to the view expressed by the Deputy Prime Minister in the House of Representatives yesterday, a view which was later endorsed by the Prime Minister. The statement made by Mr Lionel Bowen yesterday states:

If the Senate had any wisdom it would wind up its Committee.

Does the Government believe that the Senate Select Committee on Allegations Concerning a Judge should now be wound up?

Senator BUTTON —In answering the question directed to me by Senator Chaney, I thought the last sentence of my answer was quite clear on that question. I have nothing to add.
