Senator MACKLIN(10.13) — The only question I was going to ask relates to the proposed insertion of the words 'or information'. If any information were put into writing would it not then constitute a document under proposed new section 7C? Presumably the only other type of information that is not written would be oral because on my reading of the section this definition would seem to fall under the drafting that is already there in the Bill.


Senator Gareth Evans —Particularly since the document is defined in the Acts Interpretation Act very widely to cover all sorts of other forms of communication. But I do not resist it.
