To the Honourable the President and members of the Senate in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of the undersigned citizens respectfully showeth that:

They call upon the Government of the Commonwealth to:

1. Immediately increase the maximum tertiary student allowance to the level of the single unemployment benefit as a first step towards raising T.E.A.S. to the level of the poverty line.

2. Introduce indexation of tertiary student allowances.

3. Abolish the overseas student visa charge.

4. Restore the per capita subsidy to student residential colleges.

5. Reverse its decision to fund extra student places in 1985 at a rate 31 per cent less than the rate of funding per fulltime student in 1984.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
