Senator Bolkus asked the Minister representing the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations, upon notice, on 23 August 1984:

(1) How many word processors, stenographers and typists are employed in the Minister's Department.

(2) As of 1 September 1984, how many such staff have been, or are, off work with repetition strain injury or suspected repetition strain injury.


Senator Button —The Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations has provided the following information in response to the honourable senator's question:

(1) The Department employs 53 word processors, 82 stenographers and 223 typists .

(2) Forty one (41) of these staff have been, or are, off work with repetition strain injury or suspected repetition strain injury.
