Senator Foreman asked the Minister representing the Treasurer, upon notice, on 4 September 1984:

What amount of sales tax was raised on the sale of goods in South Australia in the financial years 1981-82, 1982-83 and 1983-84.

Senator Walsh —The Treasurer has provided the following answer to the honourable senator's question:

Sales tax raised on the sales of goods in South Australia is not recorded. However, net collections of sales tax by the Australian Taxation Office in South Australia, including collections in the Northern Territory, are as follows:

1981-82-$172,345,000; 1982-83-$216,378,000; 1983-84-$261,328,000.
