Senator REID(12.30) —I spoke previously on the tabling of the annual report of the Canberra College of Advanced Education about the work of Dr Richardson and my regard for him and what he has done. I shall not repeat those remarks. I think the success of the college is measured by the very good reputation it has in regard to its graduates obtaining employment, which these days is particularly important. It does have a good record. I certainly note Senator Georges's comments, and I hold the institute in high regard. I think his suggestion flies in the face of the proposals for the college should self-government occur in the Territory. For that reason alone, given that the college was not consulted on the question of its situation in regard to self-government, I think the proposition needs to be re-evaluated and re-examined.
