Senator PETER RAE —My question is directed to the Minister for Industry and Commerce. I ask whether it is a fact that the Steel Industry Authority's recommendation that developing country preferences for Korea, Taiwan and Brazil be removed on certain steel products has not been approved by the Cabinet because of the intransigent opposition of the Minister for Trade and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, as was reported in the Age newspaper of 4 September 1984. What steps is the Minister taking to resolve this important question at an early date?

Senator BUTTON —The answer to the first part of the question is no, that is not true. The answer to the second part of the question is that I am taking the appropriate steps and that an announcement will be made in due course.
