Senator BUTTON (Leader of the Government in the Senate) —For the information of honourable senators, I table documents relating to the Inquiry into the Circumstances Surrounding the Making of a Customs Declaration. These comprise transcripts of the inquiry conferences, documents listed in appendices E and F of the inquiry and departmental papers concerning the making of the declaration and leading to the establishment of the inquiry. Given the volume of papers, a limited number of copies is available. Copies have been lodged with the Senate Records Office and the Parliamentary Library. Separate copies have been made available to the Leader of the Opposition in this place (Senator Chaney), the Leader of the Australian Democrats (Senator Chipp) and Senator Harradine. Honourable senators will notice that there is some correspondence with Mr Black referring to him one of the tabled papers following completion of his inquiry. Mr Black advised that it would not have been likely to affect his findings in any way had it been made available earlier.
