Senator DURACK(11.25) —I say to the Attorney-General ( Senator Gareth Evans), with great deference to the advice that he has received, that I would have thought that Standing Orders must be suspended in order to move some motion that is not otherwise available. It is just a question as to whether the Senate may wish to move an amendment to enable the call of the Senate not in accordance with Standing Orders but to be postponed for a period of some time other than 21 days. Is this the appropriate vehicle in which to move an amendment to that effect, if any honourable senator so desires?
