Senator CRICHTON-BROWNE(9.51) —I support Senator Durack. It seems extraordinary, given the great wisdom of the Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans) and his advisers, that they cannot find a suitable definition of ' relative success' so that it can be written into the legislation. I think Senator Durack is quite right. The Australian Democrats have sought to make the best of a bad job, but I cannot for the life of me see why the legal minds of the Attorney-General's Department cannot bend themselves around a set of words to accommodate what in the past has been tradition and a resolution of the Senate along the lines accepted in the past.
