Senator TOWNLEY —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) having had time to consider the effect of the Assets Test;

(b) conscious of the increasing awareness of pensioners and those approaching pension age of the adverse effect of the Test;

(c) bearing in mind that the Department of Social Security will be empowered to enter into a pensioner's home to check their assets; and.

(d) taking into account the small amount of revenue to be raised by the test after its costly $30m introduction;

is convinced, for those and other reasons, that the whole idea should be dropped immediately.
