Senator CHANEY (Leader of the Opposition)(9.03) —I acknowledge the Government's tabling of this paper this evening, rather than this afternoon, at the request of the Opposition. It was our view that we could not have had a sensible approach to condolence motions had we had debate on this important report this afternoon. The fact that it is being introduced at this late hour is due in fact to our request. The Government has agreed that we should have an opportunity to debate the report if after our examination of it we seek that tomorrow. I acknowledge also the Government's co-operation in that. At this stage I simply seek leave to continue my remarks later.

Leave granted; debate adjourned.
