Senator CHIPP (Leader of the Australian Democrats) —I give notice that, on the next day of sitting, I shall move:

That the Senate-

(a) condemns the Prime Minister's statement that the United States bases in Australia are not military bases;

(b) calls on the Government to undertake a comprehensive public debate on all aspects of the United States bases in Australia, rather than the one-sided and limited statement of the Prime Minister which ignored some roles of the bases and the many implications of those roles;

(c) demands that all foreign military bases in Australia are totally controlled by Australians or by Australia in association with an international authority;

(d) demands that all foreign military bases in Australia do not contribute to the planning for, or fighting of, a nuclear war.
