Senator COLSTON(9.33) — When I approached my Whip about speaking on the Remuneration and Allowances Amendment Bill 1984 I did so in the hope that I would follow Senator Harradine in the debate because I know that he has certain comments to make.

Senator Harradine —You could seek leave to continue your remarks later.

Senator COLSTON —It has just been suggested to me that I seek leave to continue my remarks at a later stage so that I might speak after Senator Harradine.

The ACTING DEPUTY PRESIDENT (Senator Townley) —I will explain the situation. Senator Colston, if you seek leave to continue your remarks later it will have the effect of adjourning the debate, so I ask you to resume your seat now and when you wish to speak later in the debate to seek leave to do so.
