Senator MACKLIN(6.28) —Just briefly, the reason for moving this amendment was probably spelt out fairly well by the Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans). It is the hiatus between the subpoena and the next step when in fact the person concerned does not turn up. In such a circumstance it is fairly obvious that he has left the country. That is the sort of situation we are seeking to prevent.
