Senator GARETH EVANS (Attorney-General)(4.28) —The short answer is that the VIP aircraft will be used if it is cost effective to use them rather than to travel commercial, and that presumably depends on the size of the delegation that is appropriate to accompany the particular Minister, the nature of the trip in question and matters of that kind. I am sure the standing costs that are associated with maintaining the official aircraft fleet and the additional marginal costs that are involved in using them in the way that is here involved, as compared with the actual cost of commercial flights, are closely taken into account. If the honourable senator wants any further and better particulars on that sort of question, I am afraid I will have to take that question on notice and give her that at a later time. If she has any short, quick, factual points, it might be possible to give her short, quick answers within a matter of moments .
