Senator WALTERS(4.18) —On 3 May, if the Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans) recalls, I reminded him that the Minister for Health (Dr Blewett) in a second reading speech indicated that the one per cent Medicare levy would be itemised separately on account. I asked the Minister whether the Medicare levy was shown on servicemen's pay slips. I refer to the servicemen whose wives receive salaries. Could the Minister tell me whether he has been able to find out the information, because it was promised? I have not yet received any information. As far as I am aware, the one per cent Medicare levy has not been separately itemised; it certainly has not been itemised on my pay cheque. The Minister for Health made it very clear in his second reading speech that the levy would be itemised separately on all pay sheets. As far as I am aware this has not been done on any public servants' pay slips. Perhaps the Attorney- General could fill in that answer for me.
