Senator MacGIBBON(4.01) —The Estimates Committee had enormous difficulty eliciting information about the Skywest surveillance contract. In the light of the questions we have had, I ask the Minister why the Departmennt did not consider using the Searchmaster Nomads that were already in Australia and fitted out with Litton radar for the marine surveillance role on the Great Barrier Reef? Were studies done to show that there was an alternative solution to the problem at a cheaper rate?
