Senator Sir JOHN CARRICK(11.28) —Mr Chairman, as I do not have the Hansard of last night's meeting of Estimates Committee A, there may be some duplication of questions. I refer to what has now emerged as a major restructuring of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the lack of knowledge about which has caused some concern to Estimates Committee A. I wish to ask some specific questions on the restructuring. Is it a fact that in recent days notices of the abolition of employment-that is, the so-called white envelopes- have been given to certain officers or all officers of the legal section of the ABC? If that is a fact, what is the reason for it? Is it intended to abolish the legal section of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and, if that is the intention, what structure is to be put in its place?
