Senator BUTTON (Minister for Industry and Commerce and Minister Assisting the Minister for Communications)(11.26) —Mr Chairman, I undertake to get the details of that matter for Senator Sir John Carrick. I would just like to put it in context. Last year the Senate passed legislation for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and one of the elements of that legislation in respect of the Board concerned the establishment of an independent secretariat for the Board-a quite independent facility from the normal staff of the former Commission. I believe that some of the expansion of costs accommodates the operation and functioning of that secretariat. As I indicated earlier, we are quite happy to provide the details.

Senator Sir John Carrick —Before the Estimates are finished?

Senator BUTTON —We will certainly endeavour to do that. I also indicate to the honourable senator that this question was pursued at some length in the meeting of Estimates Committee A which took place last night, and answers were provided.
