Senator GARETH EVANS (Attorney-General)(6.40) —I believe an uncontroversial amendment to clause 76 is No. 59 on the Governments list of amendments. I move:

(59) Page 29, lines 38 to 40, and page 30, lines 1 to 4, clause 76, leave out sub-clause (7), insert the following sub-clause:

'(7) For the purpose of ascertaining the amount that is to be attributable to an insurer under sub-section (3), there shall be taken into account the liability, in respect of the loss, of an insurer (in this sub-section referred to as the 'Government insurer') under a contract entered into in the course of State insurance or Northern Territory insurance but sub-section (3) does not-

(a) entitle the Government insurer to recover contribution; or

(b) render the Government insurer liable to pay contribution.'.
