Senator ELSTOB —Has the Minister representing the Minister for Science and Technology seen the recent British report that, according to industry leaders, British companies are wasting millions of pounds by buying the wrong micro- computers for their needs? Can the Minister say whether there is evidence to show that similar problems are occurring in Australian businesses? Does the Minister consider that there are sufficient computer advisory and consumer services operating to prevent such wastage from happening within Australian businesses?

Senator RYAN —Although I cannot answer Senator Elstob with any detail I am sure that my colleague the Minister for Science and Technology would love to have the opportunity to provide him with answers. I am sure he has all the information available in the world on that subject since he pursues it so assiduously so I will, with great optimism, refer Senator Elstob's question to him in the full expectation of an expert and thorough reply.
