Senator ARCHER(12.41) —These amendments were put forward with a view to trying to reduce litigation and to clarify the issues about which we are talking. To leave them out will only leave more areas open to debate, discussion , disagreement, fighting and so on. I believe that they are all valid amendments . I urge the Attorney-General (Senator Gareth Evans) to consider them in his effort to try to make things clearer. It is not a matter of trying to escape anything or of winding down the risk. It is just a matter of the commercial reality of these matters and an effort to make sure that insurance is a reasonable project for both sides.

Amendments negatived.

Clause agreed to.

Clauses 61 to 70-by leave-taken together.
