Mr Keogh asked the Minister representing the Attorney-General, in writing, on 7 November 2016:

What sum did the departments and agencies within the Minister's portfolio spend in 2015-16 on external legal services.

Mr Keenan: The Attorney-General has provided the following answer to the honourable member's question:

The Legal Services Directions 2005 require that non-corporate Commonwealth entities publish the details their legal services expenditure annually. This information, including the legal services expenditure of corporate Commonwealth entities, is also required to be reported to the Office of Legal Services Coordination for the purposes of the Commonwealth's Legal Services Expenditure report.

External legal service expenditure figures for entities in the portfolio are contained in the following table.
