Mr Ciobo asked the Minister representing the Minister for Climate Change and Water, in writing, on 19 March 2009:

(a) how many and what percentages of payments made by the Minister’s department to small business were not made within (i) 30, and (ii) 60 days of receipt or the goods or services and an invoice; and (b) what was the average time lapsed between invoice received and payments made by the Minister’s department to small businesses.


Mr Combet (Minister for Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science and Minister Assisting the Minister for Climate Change) —The Minister for Climate Change and Water has provided the following answer to the honourable member’s question:

(a)   The number and percentages of payments made to small business by the Department of Climate Change for the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008 which were not made within (i) 30 and (ii) 60 days of the receipt of the goods or services and an invoice are:

Payments made more than 30 days of receipt of invoice but within 31-59 days

Payments made more than 60 days from receipt of invoice

(b)   the average time lapsed between an invoice being received in the Department and payments being made by the Department to small businesses was 29.57 days.
