Mr Morrison asked the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, in writing, on 24 November 2008:

(1)   Will the Major Cities Unit (MCU) have a role in the assessment of the infrastructure submissions received by Infrastructure Australia; if so, what will it be.

(2)   In respect of infrastructure needs, what is the status of consultations between the MCU and the various State and Territory government planning and transport agencies.

The Major Cities unit will lead a whole of government response by the Commonwealth to contribute to outcomes that improve the liveability, productivity and sustainable development of the major cities in Australia working closely with Infrastructure Australia.
